Design Licence

When you buy a JINA pack you get a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the design (or designs) your licence key is bound to. What you may do depends on the tier. Each tier includes everything in the tiers above it.

HD Pack: personal

  • Use the design as wallpapers and in your own social media posts.
  • Print the A3 art or other copies for your own home and as personal gifts.
  • One design per licence key.

Print-ready fabric file: personal printing

  • Print the design on fabric (or anything else) for yourself, your household, and as gifts, using any printer you choose. Your printer may handle the file only to print your order.
  • One design per licence key.

Event Pack: one event

  • Use the design and its 12 variations for one event (a wedding, send-off, ruracio, harusi, reunion, funeral, church or community event): invitations, programmes, table cards, signage, decorations and posts about the event.
  • Print matching outfits and fabric (sare) for the hosts, family and guests of that event. You may ask guests to cover the printing cost, but not sell for profit.
  • One design (with its variations) per licence key.

Commercial licence: selling goods

  • Print and sell physical goods featuring the design: fabric, kanga, apparel, décor, bags, merchandise, in unlimited quantities.
  • Use the design to market those goods, including on your shop, website and social media.
  • Covers one business (one shop, brand or trading name) and up to 5 designs on one licence key.

Not allowed on any tier

  • Selling, sharing or giving away the digital files themselves, or offering them as templates, print-on-demand listings for others, stock assets or NFTs.
  • Selling goods featuring the design without the Commercial licence.
  • Registering the design as a trademark or logo, or claiming exclusive rights to it.
  • Using the design with unlawful, hateful or defamatory content.

Non-exclusive

Designs are generated from text. Someone who types the same message with the same settings will get the same design, so we can't offer exclusivity and other people may license the same design.

Proverbs and text

Traditional Swahili proverbs are shared cultural heritage; this licence does not grant or claim rights in them. You are responsible for any text you add yourself.

When the licence ends

The licence ends if the order is fully refunded or charged back, or if you break these terms. Goods you already made and sold in good faith under a valid Commercial licence before then are unaffected.

Proof of licence

Your Lemon Squeezy receipt and the LICENCE.txt file in your download are your proof of licence.
